Bed and Breakfast at Tiffany's was originally established in the early 1850's when "Colonel" Henry Clay Swanson moved to East Texas from Alabama, settling near Palestine in Anderson County. "Colonel" Swanson and his brother began purchasing large amounts of land in 1851, eventually creating a 15,000+ acre southern plantation by 1854.

The Historic Southern Plantation Bed and Breakfast is located at the heart of the original Swanson Plantation properties. It consists of nearly 10 acres and a large Victorian style home built in the late 1800's on the original Swanson Estate. The current property is the site where the original plantation's slave quarters for its 150 plus slaves resided prior to the end of the Civil War.

The property passed from the Swanson family in the early 1900's. The home survived the Palestine Tornado of 1946 that left fifteen people dead, and it served as a temporary morgue for eleven of the bodies until the road to town could be cleared.

The home was purchased in 1955 by author/photographer Osjetea Briggs ("A WALK IN MY MOCCASINS") who resided there for over 40 years.

In 1997 the property was purchased by Carrie O'Brien who painstakingly restored the home to its present condition…an elegant southern plantation bed and breakfast in the South.
